The Journey Begins: Charleston Youth Summit 2017

While the Steinberg Law Firm is best known for protecting the rights of those injured, we also take pride in our service to the Charleston community. For over 85 years, we've made it our mission to help our community and improve the lives of others.

This weekend, we continue our service as we begin our journey to the Charleston Youth Summit 2017, which we co-sponsor with the Royal Missionary Baptist Church Foundation, Links, and Jack and Jill, Inc.

The Charleston Youth Summit began two years ago when the Royal Missionary Baptist Church invited high school students to research and discuss selected social issues. The project was a great success and well attended by students and their families. Those attending had a great time, but the students indicated they would like to have more control of the program in future years.

Thus, the Charleston Youth Summit was born. Last year, we joined forces with our co-sponsors and The Steinberg Law Firm Foundation took the program to the next level. It was a great success with 200 students from all areas and walks of life participating.

This year’s Youth Summit will take place on December 9, 2017, but the journey starts in earnest this Saturday. The student-initiated Charleston Youth Council will elect officers and decide topics up for discussion. The Summit gives high school students a creative and safe forum to identify and discuss social issues of concern to them and our community through various workshops, music, and food.

Are you a student?  Are you a member of a youth group? If so, please email churchadmin@royalmbc.org to become a member of the Charleston Youth Council or take part in the Charleston Youth Summit.
